Which renderer to use
Highball can run each game through three different Direct3D translation layers. This is what the database knows for this title — empty rows are open questions, not failures.
| Renderer | Verdict | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| DXVKDirect3D 9-11 over Vulkan | Untested | no report yet — send one |
| DXMTDirect3D 11 over Metal | Untested | no report yet — send one |
| D3DMetalApple's Game Porting Toolkit | Untested | no report yet — send one |
No dated Highball run yet. When one lands it records the renderer, the engine build and the macOS version it was seen on — which is what stops a verdict quietly rotting. Send one.
Notes
Does not run. The game opens a console window that closes within seconds. Players on CrossOver see 'GLFW ERROR: WGL: Failed to create OpenGL context': the game needs OpenGL 4.2 and macOS stops at 4.1, so no Mac OpenGL driver can give it the context it asks for. The workaround those players use is Mesa's software OpenGL (llvmpipe) copied into the game folder with an opengl32 override, which runs on the CPU and is choppy; Highball does not ship it.
Known issues
A command prompt opens and closes after a few seconds, no game window
What helps none in Highball. Players on CrossOver put Mesa's software OpenGL (llvmpipe, opengl32.dll and libgallium_wgl.dll from mesa-dist-win) beside the game with an opengl32 native override, at CPU-rendering speed
Why the game asks for an OpenGL 4.2 context and macOS offers 4.1 at most (GLFW: WGL failed to create OpenGL context, from the game's Steam discussions)
Provenance
Reported by barryloh (highball-db#498, 2026-10-15), engine x64-sikarugir10.0_6-r26, DXMT, recipe steam: a command prompt window opens and closes after a few seconds, the game never shows. Steam community reports on CrossOver 26.3 name the same failure. Not verified by the maintainer.
Before installing anything, it is worth checking whether the game already ships a native Mac build.
Common questions
Does Car Park Capital work on Mac?
Car Park Capital has no native Mac build, but it is reported to run on Apple Silicon through Highball, a free open-source compatibility layer. This comes from community reports rather than a Highball test run, so treat it as a reasonable expectation rather than a guarantee.
