Which renderer to use
Highball can run each game through three different Direct3D translation layers. This is what the database knows for this title — empty rows are open questions, not failures.
| Renderer | Verdict | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| DXVKDirect3D 9-11 over Vulkan | Untested | no report yet — send one |
| DXMTDirect3D 11 over Metal | Untested | no report yet — send one |
| D3DMetalApple's Game Porting Toolkit | Untested | no report yet — send one |
No dated Highball run yet. When one lands it records the renderer, the engine build and the macOS version it was seen on — which is what stops a verdict quietly rotting. Send one.
Notes
The game drew small in the left part of the screen. It asks for a 2000-era fullscreen mode the Mac does not list. Since Highball 0.10.11 (0.10.15 for everyone) Emulate display mode changes on the game's page makes Wine list the older modes, so the switch goes through and the picture is scaled to the screen. The game was not run here and the reporter did not confirm the fix.
Known issues
The picture sits small in the left part of the screen (reported on an M1 Pro, macOS 26.1)
What helps Emulate display mode changes on the game's page, Highball 0.10.15 or later, untested on this game
Why the game's old fullscreen mode is not listed by the Mac
Provenance
Reported by abdulrab22 (highball#244, 2026-10-03), Apple M1 Pro, macOS 26.1, Highball 0.10.3. Not verified by the maintainer.
Before installing anything, it is worth checking whether the game already ships a native Mac build.
Common questions
Does Project I.G.I.: I'm Going In work on Mac?
Project I.G.I.: I'm Going In has no native Mac build, but it is reported to run on Apple Silicon through Highball, a free open-source compatibility layer. This comes from community reports rather than a Highball test run, so treat it as a reasonable expectation rather than a guarantee.
